The American Urological Association (AUA) recently recognized Dr. Steve JohnsonÕs mastery of urologic ultrasound imaging with a Level II Verification of Skills Certificate. He is the first urologist in Grayson County to attain such certification. Dr. Johnson attended a hands-on ultrasound course sponsored by the AUA in October at Dallas Prestyterian Hospital. The 2-day course featured 12 hours of CME lectures on the basic and advanced aspects of urologic ultrasound imaging. The certifying portion of the course included written tests and hands-on testing demonstrating mastery of urologic ultrasound imaging techniques.
Dr. Johnson provides numerous in-office ultrasound services in Sherman and Denison. The urologic imaging services offered include renal, bladder and scrotal sonography as well as trans-rectal ultrasound imaging of the prostate. He also uses prostate ultrasound imaging regularly in the course of performing prostate cryoablation (freeze therapy) for prostate cancer.
